Rumen-Bypass Amino Acids In Three Branded Products05/2004VenueRumen Profiling Laboratory, West Virginia University. SummaryThree protein supplements were evaluated to determine the bypass value of their amino acids and protein. Samples were incubated in the rumen of a fistulated Holstein cow for 16 hours. The cow was in early lactation and producing 80 pounds of milk daily. Samples were run in triplicate. ResultsThe Rumen Profiling Laboratory of West Virginia University reported higher rumen-bypass values for methionine, lysine, histidine, threonine and protein in Soy Best than in Dakota Gold and Alberta Gold. Soy Best is a soybean-based product, Dakota Gold is a corn-based product and Alberta Gold is a canola-based product.
